Looking to end their two-season top flight absence, Cremonese and Spezia will fight in their two-leg promotion playoff final. The first leg will be played on Thursday at Stadio Giovanni Zini between the Gray and Reds and the Little Eagles, with our prediction of both teams scoring goals. On offer for the winner of this two-legged tie is a place in next season’s Serie A, joining Sassuolo and Pisa.

Cremonese finished the regular season in fourth place and defeated Juve Stabia 4-2 on aggregate in the semis. Spezia were third in the regular season and defeated Catanzaro 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

The 3-0 win for Cremonese at home against Juve Stabia on Sunday ended a two-game losing streak. They also achieved their first clean sheet in the last five league matches.

Cremonese haven’t exactly dominated at their home venue, although they had just one defeat across the last 12 league matches there (W5, D6, L1).

Spezia are in better form coming into the final, as a 2-1 home win over Catanzaro last weekend was their third win in a row in the competition. That helped them overcome the hiccup of consecutive defeats to end the season, including a 3-2 defeat to Cremonese.

They won 2-0 in their last away match, but that was their only victory across seven league trips (W1, D5, L1).
