France and Colombia are coming off contrasting 2-1 results, as they look to wrap up their engagements of this international football window with a win. This international friendly match on Sunday between the ‘Coffee Growers’ and the ‘Blues’ is part of the 'Road to 26' preparations. It will be played at the Northwest Stadium in Maryland and comes with our prediction favouring more than 2.5 goals.
Colombia have two more friendlies scheduled before they take part in Group K of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Uzbekistan, Portugal, and either the DR Congo or Jamaica will be their opponents in that group. France have just one more scheduled friendly before the World Cup, where they are part of Group I. Senegal, Norway, and one of Iraq or Bolivia make up that group.
The South Americans qualified for the global tournament third in the CONMEBOL standings, ending their four-year absence from the World Cup. France are the defending runners-up and comfortably qualified for the tournament by topping Group D of the UEFA qualifiers. Which team will take a positive step in their preparations? Colombia - France: Form Analysis
Colombia lost 2-1 to Croatia on Thursday despite scoring a second-minute opener. It ended a nine-game unbeaten run (W5, D4) for the ‘Coffee Growers', which included three wins in four previous friendlies. That said, the defeat to Croatia signals their challenge in bringing their game up against better-ranked teams.
Looking back at their record against teams currently above them in FIFA rankings, Colombia have just one win from their last six such games (D2, L3).
Colombia scored at least 2 goals in five of their last seven matches.
France are also coming off a 2-1 result, a win over Brazil on Thursday. It extended their unbeaten run to eight matches (W7, D1) but also laid a mark for other rivals as it came against one of the favourites for the upcoming World Cup.
The ‘Blues’ haven’t lost since a 5-4 defeat to Spain in June 2025, and more importantly, they have tightened up their defence. France have kept four clean sheets in their last eight matches, while conceding just five goals in that sequence.

Colombia & France Squad Analysis
Colombia came out of their match against Croatia unscathed. Yerry Mina is a notable absentee, while striker Jhon Duran is also out of the squad. There’s enough quality on the side, as captain James Rodriguez is in line to earn his 124th international cap.
The ‘Coffee Growers’ will continue with their 4-2-3-1 formation that would see Sporting Lisbon’s Luis Suarez leading the attack. There’s also the Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz looking to add to his tally of seven goals from the qualifiers.
Jhon Arias has scored once in each of his last three matches.
France had Dayot Upamecano sent off against Brazil. There are a number of first-team players out of this squad, with the likes of Jules Kounde, Manu Kone, and Bradley Barcola absent because of injuries.
The French will also line up in their traditional 4-2-3-1 formation, but it will be interesting to see if Kylian Mbappe will start as their lone striker. Even if he’s rested, the attacking midfield trio of Hugo Ekitike, Michael Olise, and Rayan Cherki is enough to excite the neutrals and threaten the Colombian defenders.

Our Colombia vs France Prediction
This is the first encounter between these sides since 2018, when Colombia won 3-2 in a friendly. So much has changed since then, and France are peaking at the right time before the World Cup. Their 2-1 win over Brazil was a statement, and wrapping up their friendlies with another victory would be top of their agenda. Colombia lost only once in their last ten matches, but that came in their most recent friendly on Thursday.
Recent records of these sides suggest this match could be another high-scorer, so our Colombia vs France prediction is more than 2.5 goals.
