Club Brugge and Olympique Marseille face off this week, each seeking to confirm their place in the round of 16 playoffs in the Champions League. Brugge, who currently sit outside the playoff places in 27th place, will host this match, which is the first meeting between these two in 32 years. Read on for our preview of the match.

Club Brugge - Marseille: Form Analysis
Club Brugge have to win here to remain active in Europe. The Belgian giants have struggled this season in the UCL, winning just two of seven matches. They have lost four times and, with seven points, sit outside of the playoff spots.
Ivan Leko’s men gave their qualifying hopes a big boost last week with a dominant 4-1 victory away to Kairat Almaty. Brugge had lost back-to-back UCL fixtures by similar 3-0 score lines as they headed to Kazakhstan. The win over Kairat was, however, followed by a shaky 4-3 victory over Waregem that kept them on pace in the Belgian title race.
Marseille have never lost to a Belgian opponent in seven meetings.
Marseille lost last time out in the UCL and cannot afford another loss. The French giants, who had defeated Brugge’s domestic rivals USG 3-2 on matchday six, were hammered 3-0 at home by Liverpool. It was their fourth loss in the tournament, and it kept them from moving up to 12 points and confirming a playoff round spot.
Les Phocéens have accumulated nine points thanks to their three wins. Marseille, who defeated Brugge both home and away on their way to lifting the 1993 Champions League, responded to the loss to Liverpool with a 3-1 home win over Lens in Ligue 1.

Lynnt Audoor and Christos Tzolis will miss this game for Club Brugge as they are both injured. Nicolo Tresoldi and Carlos Forbs have both scored three goals in the CL and will most likely start in attack against Marseille.
