European champions England take on China in their final match in Group D of the 2023 Women's World Cup. The Lionesses have won both of their group games so far with victories over Haiti and Denmark. They lead second placed Denmark by three points with China in third (also with three points) and Haiti bottom after two defeats. All of the four matches played in this group to date have ended in a 1-0 scoreline. England may top the table but they haven't been too dominant so far. Two wins (both with clean sheets) is all you need at this stage and England should be able to confirm their place in the knockout stages with Nigeria, Canada and Australia the possible opponents. China have work to do though and will be worried that second placed Denmark will get a win over Haiti.Limited Offer. Currently at Stake

China W - England W: Form Analysis
England have won both their matches in this group to go three points clear of Denmark. After a less than convincing 1-0 win over Haiti, they were better against Denmark and won that game by the same scoreline. That makes it four games without defeat for the Lionesses and all with clean sheets kept. If they can just be a bit quicker up front then England could go deep in this Women's World Cup. The goal by James against Denmark is the only one they have scored from open play in their last five internationals. That will concern coach Sarina Wiegman but while the clean sheets are being kept, the chances of progressing are high.
China are ranked 14th in the world which is ten places lower than their opponents. They began this group with a 1-0 loss to Denmark, conceding in the 90th minute. That late goal may well prove crucial at the end of this group. The Chinese side got back into contention with a 1-0 win over Haiti. Just like England, they needed a penalty to get the win over Haiti. That ended a run of three games without a win for the Steel Roses. Excluding two unoffical friendly wins over Russia, the victory over Haiti was their first since a win over Chinese Tapei last July. China have never failed to get out of their Women's World Cup group but there's every chance that record may be lost with Denmark likely to get a win over Haiti in their final fixture.
