The Olympics Badminton Women's Doubles Final will be an all-Chinese encounter between Chen Qingchen/ Jia Yifan and Liu Shengshu/ Tan Ning. Qingchen/ Yifan are the number-one seeded team in the world, while Shengshu/ Ning are seeded third. Check out our prediction for this gold medal match below.
Qingchen and Yifan set the group stage alight as they romped to the top of Group A with three wins in three matches without losing a single set in any of those games.
After making light work of Bulgarian duo of Stefani and Gabriela Stoeva in the quarter-final, the world number ones overcame Malaysian pair Pearly Tan and Muralitharan Thinaah in the semis.
They took the first game 21-12 but the Malaysians fought back in the second set to win 21-18, handing the top seeds their first lost game of the tournament. However, Qingchen and Yifan rallied in the third and surged to a 21-15 victory.
Qingchen and Yifan both won silver at Tokyo 2020 and are the favourites to upgrade their metal this year.
Meanwhile, Shengshu and Ning also came through the group stage with flying colours, winning all three of their group-stage matches. However, they did drop a set along the way, losing 21-10 to the Stoeva sisters in game two.
The number three seeds put on arguably their best performance of the competition in the quarters, thumping the South Korean duo of Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee 21-9 and 21-13.
They then downed Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida of Japan 21-16 and 21-19 to book their place in this grand spectacle.
