Chelsea - Leicester: Form Analysis

While Leicester City have been good in attack, at the back they’ve been porous. In their opening three league games, they have scored five times but the eight goals conceded in that run means they have the poorest defensive run at this stage of the season. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with League Two side Stockport County in the League Cup and though they sailed through, failing to beat a League Two side in 90 minutes means they are still not at their best. Chelsea aren’t at their best either. They are winless in their last two matches , conceding five times in the process and coming from a 3-0 loss to Leeds United will mean they have to give more here. Their only win this season was a scrappy affair, beating struggling Everton through a Jorginho penalty.

Leicester City will once again be without Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand and when their main man upfront, Jamie Vardy has failed to click, it is James Maddison who has sparkled, with two goals in the last two league games. Youri Tielemans has attracted interest elsewhere and his attention seems to have shifted. His performance has clearly been affected, while the same is the case with Wesley Fofana and the fact that the club hasn’t been very involved in the transfer market leaves them really short in depth. Chelsea, on the other hand, are also suffering by way of injuries and suspensions; they are short in midfield with Matteo Kovacic and N’golo Kante both injured, while they are set to miss Kalidou Koulibaly here, after the defender was sent off against Leeds. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been erratic lately and Thomas Tuchel may just be forced to consider calling up Kepa after the Senegal international's contribution in the loss to Leeds United.
