It's beginning to be a year of firsts for Carlos Alcaraz. After winning his first Grand Slam in Australia he now tries to win the Qatar ExxonMobil Open title. To do so, the top seed must defeat unseeded Arthur Fils. Read our match prediction below.
The Spaniard is only playing his second tournament of the year and he is unbeaten this year in 11 matches. Only Karen Khachanov has taken a set off Alcaraz this week. Friday saw him end the title reign of Andrey Rublev with a straight sets victory.
This is the third match between Alcaraz and Fils. Alcaraz has won both previous matches but they were played on clay last year. Fils managed to take a set off his opponent in their first match.
Arthur Fils is playing in his fifth ATP Tour final and his second on this surface. Three of his previous four finals have been won, two on clay but he did win the outdoor Tokyo Open two years ago.
Fils suffered an injury last August and didn't make his return until earlier this month. He reached the last eight in Montpellier in his comeback event. This week has seen him defeat two seeds, Jiri Lecka and Jakub Mensik and has only lost one set.
