Bulgaria will take on Israel in the 2026 European Championship on Monday afternoon. Bulgaria are ranked inside the top 10 in the world, and we’re going for them to win this match as our main prediction. 

Bulgaria made a flying start to the 2026 EuroVolley, beating North Macedonia 3-0 and Portugal 3-0 before seeing their perfect run in the competition brought to an end by Ukraine 3-1 on Sunday. 

Against Ukraine, Bulgaria recorded 55% attack efficiency and had nine blocks compared to their opponents' four. Aleksandar Nikolov was their best player on the day, scoring an impressive 27 points. 

Bulgaria have won seven of their last 10 matches across all competitions, as well as their only two competitive encounters against their upcoming opponents, both back in 2021. 

Meanwhile, Israel will come into this match with renewed confidence. After losing to Ukraine 3-1 and being swept by Poland 3-0, they notched up their first win, beating Portugal 3-2 over the weekend. 

They came back twice from a set behind against Portugal. Mark Rura led the team with 23 points, including seven breaks, followed by Shay Lieberman with 21 points (also 7 breaks). 

That was Israel’s first win after four consecutive defeats. They failed to win a set in their two previous encounters against Bulgaria.
