Ninth-place Brighton and 16th-placed Everton will face off for matchday 23 of the English Premier League. Who will come out on top in this matchup between the Seagulls and the Toffees? Read on for our match prediction!

Brighton come into this game firmly planted in mid-table with their points total of 34. This has them trailing the European football spots by four points with plenty of time left to make a run. The hosts have a considerable amount of momentum as they haven’t been beaten since mid December.

After flirting with the relegation zone, Everton were able to move four points clear of the bottom three following a big victory last weekend. Everton have managed only one victory against Brighton in their last six meetings. However, they have experienced success in their last two trips to the AMEX as they have walked away with four points. Will they be able to pull off the upset as the underdogs?

Brighton - Everton: Form Analysis

After a lengthy eight-match winless run spanning from the end of November to the beginning of January, Brighton have since returned to winning ways. During that time, the hosts saw six matches end in stalemates with the other two ending in defeats.

In their last outing, the Seagulls pulled off another memorable victory as they walked away with a 3-1 away win over Manchester United.

Brighton did the double over Man Utd and secured their third straight win at Old Trafford.

It marked another one of England’s biggest teams that Brighton has slayed with the team also having picked up wins over Man City, Tottenham and Newcastle earlier in the season.

They’ve now won their last three in a row across all competitions and are on a six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.

As for Everton, they were able to hold on after scoring three first half goals in a 3-2 home win over Tottenham last weekend. The win snapped a three-game losing streak in the league and gave them some breathing room over the drop zone.

Overall, the visitors have now won two of their last three outings when factoring in their FA Cup third round victory over Peterborough. However, they’ve struggled when playing on the road, managing only a single victory in and scoring six goals in 10 away trips.

Brighton & Everton Squad Analysis

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has a lengthy injury list to deal with ahead of Saturday’s clash. No fewer than seven players are listed as either out or doubtful.

As for the confirmed absences, the hosts will be without James Milner, Ferdi Kadioglu and Igor Julio. A number of players are back in training after missing some time including Mats Wieffer, Evan Ferguson, Brajan Gruda and Jack Hinshelwood with the latter two expected to be available.

Brighton will be sweating the availability of captain Lewis Dunk.

The defender reportedly picked up a “small muscular problem” and looks to be touch and go ahead of this contest. Matt O’Riley is also a doubt after suffering a “small knee issue” according to Hurzeler.

Everton manager David Moyes also has to contend with a number of injuries ahead of his team’s visit to the south coast. Armando Broja, Tim Iroegbunam, Seamus Coleman, Youssef Chermiti and James Garner all look set to miss out.

Dwight McNeil is also a major doubt with the midfielder having missed the last month with a knee injury. Moyes will be hoping that Dominic Calvert-Lewin can regain some form with the 27-year-old finally putting an end to his 16-game scoring drought in the win over Tottenham.

Brighton vs Everton Alternative Predictions

Over 2.5 goals

Odds 1.89

Brighton have been in fine scoring form having netted nine times in their last three outings. On their day, they can single-handedly cover this goal total.

Everton are certainly a threat to get on the scoresheet after putting three past Spurs last weekend. Their target man Dominic Calvert-Lewin finally getting back on the scoresheet is also a good sign that we could be in for a high-scoring game.
