by Steve Ashfield in Premier League Predictions

Brighton and Hove Albion are ninth in the Premier League but only three places below their opponents Bournemouth. This should be an exciting south coast derby, can the Seagulls get an important home victory? Read our match prediction.

The home side have had an up-and-down season. There's been some excellent results but a few heavy defeats as well. They are still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe (perhaps even the Champions League) and in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The 7-0 thrashing at Forest could have seen the club go into a downward spiral but the opposite has occurred and their European qualification hopes have been boosted.

Bournemouth suffered a surprise home loss to Wolves at the weekend. They will want to get back on track with a win here and then get revenge on Wolves in next weekend's FA Cup game. Can the Cherries resume their winning ways?

Brighton - Bournemouth: Form Analysis

The goals are flowing for Brighton and Hove Albion. They conceded seven at Nottingham Forest but since then have beaten Chelsea twice (one in the FA Cup) with five goals scored and then scored four at Southampton on Saturday.

Albion have only won four home league games this season. The recent 3-0 win over Chelsea ended a run of five home games without a win. They are difficult to beat at the AMEX Stadium with just two league defeats  Seven of their last ten home league games have seen both teams score.

Bournemouth are out for revenge.

Bournemouth lost the reverse fixture 3-1 in November so will be out to get some revenge on Tuesday. The Cherries have lost two of their last three league games but both were at home. On the road, they are unbeaten ini their last seven league fixtures.

They have scored at least two goals in each of their last eight away Premier League fixtures. All but one of their last nine on the road have seen both teams get on the scoresheet.

Brighton & Bournemouth Squad Analysis

Joel Veltman and Danny Welbeck both missed the 4-0 win over Southampton.

Brighton bid to make it four successive wins by beating Bournemouth on Tuesday. The weekend saw them win 4-0 at Southampton and the Seagulls made a couple of changes for that fixture.

Joao Pedro came into the starting line-up and responded with a goal against the Cherries. He could well start again in this match with Danny Welbeck again being left out. Pedro is the second highest league scorer for them this season, one behind Mitoma who again scored on Saturday.

Defensive problems for Brighton.

What will their defence look like on Tuesday? They kept a clean sheet against Southampton and that's not a regular occurrence for the Seagulls. Jack Hinshelwood was a surprise right-back in that game and had expected to be playing in midfield.

Lewis Dunk was absent from that game and the England defender may also miss this game.

Bournemouth will be without Ille Zabarnyi for this match. That's because he was sent off in their 1-0 home loss to Wolves and is therefore suspended for this match. The Cherries will be hoping that key players such as Semenyo and Kluivert will rediscover their scoring touch.

Our Brighton vs Bournemouth Prediction

These two clubs used to meet in the old third division (south) but  are now battling to get into Europe. Brighton have rallied well since a poor run of results and are scoring plenty of goals. They do need to improve their home form though.

Bournemouth have lost their last two home league fixtures but are playing well on the road. They regularly score twice in away league games 22 in the last eight but have only kept one away league clean sheet this season.

Our main Brighton v Bournemouth prediction is both teams to score.
