Brighton - Arsenal: Form Analysis

Brighton and Hove Albion won 3-1 at Southampton on Boxing Day. That was their second straight away league win but before that they were beaten by League One Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup. They had beaten Arsenal at the Emirates earlier in the competition. The win over Southampton was their third in their last four Premier League games. Only one of those have been achieved on home soil. That was an impressive 4-1 win over Chelsea. Brighton have won three of their home league games this season but only one of the four with defeats by Tottenham and Aston Villa. Brighton have had a couple of home wins over Arsenal since returning to the Premier League in 2017. The last two home league fixtures against the Gunners has seen them lose 1-0 and draw 0-0.

Arsenal had to come from behind to beat West Ham United on Boxing Day. They went 1-0 down to a West Ham penalty but ended up convincingly winning the game 3-1 to stay five points clear at the top of the table. That's the only goal they have conceded in their last five Premier League games and the last four have all been won with 11 goals scored. They are now undefeated in their last nine league games since their only league loss of the season at Manchester United in September. Away from home, Arsenal have won six of their eight Premier League games. Aside from the loss at Old Trafford, only Southampton has prevented them winning with four clean sheets in the last five played.

Brighton and Hove Albion will be without Moises Caicedo for this game. He was booked in the Boxing Day win at Southampton and that means he's suspended off for this home match against the Gunners. Billy Gilmour is expected to replace him. Tihe south coast club are also still waiting for Argentinian Alexis MacAllister to return to the club. Adam Webster is doubtful for this game but the hope is that Danny Welbeck may be fit to play against his former club.

Arsenal will continue to be without Gabriel Jesus who was injured during the World Cup. There are doubts over Takehiro Tomiyasu who has a hamstring injury. Oleksandr Zinchenko could well be back in the team after recovering from injury. Martin Odegaard scored twice in their last away win at Wolves, the second time that he's scored two goals in an away league game this season.
