Brentford have made a confident start to the new Premier League season. The Bees are fifth in the table after earning four points from their opening two fixtures. Their opening home game was won 3-0 and they'll hope for three more points at home to Sunderland who lost their only away fixture. Our prediction here is a home win for Brentford.
The season got off to the best possible start for Brentford with a 3-0 home win over Tottenham. They followed that up with a draw at Leeds United last weekend. Home form has been strong in the past for the Bees and another win would cement their strong start to the season.
Sunderland have a busy season ahead of them with a European campaign to deal with in addition to their domestic duties. It's been a mixed start to the season for them so far against not the best of opposition. A tough afternoon awaits them in London this Saturday.

Brentford - Sunderland: Form Analysis
Brentford had a poor end the 2025-26 season and that cost them a place in European football. The Bees finished ninth in the Premier League, two places and just a single point behind Sunderland. Two points from their final three league games saw them miss out on European qualification on goal difference.
Goals galore for the Bees.
They will be keen to make amends this season and have made an unbeaten start. Brentford began the season with an impressive 3-0 home win over Tottenham. It would have been four but for their top scorer Igor Thiago missing a penalty. They then won 6-1 away at Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup.
Last weekend saw them earn a point at Leeds United. Brentford drew that game 1-1 being unable to hold onto their first half lead.
Sunderland started the new season with a disappointing 2-1 loss at newly-promoted Ipswich Town. It looked as if the Black Cats were going to return to the north east with a point, but the home side scored a 90th minute winner to take all three points. That was followed by a 1-0 home win over Fulham thanks an Isidor goal in the 75th minute.

Brentford & Sunderland Squad Analysis
Brentford made some good signings in the summer as they bid to finally secure a first season in European football. Their defence has been strengthened by the arrival of El Hadji Malick Diouf from West Ham but he is yet to start a game for his new club.
Is Thiago due a goal?
Mamadou Sangare has already made an impact since joining from Lens and striker Jaidon Anthony has been signed from Burnley. Igor Thiago will want to get on the scoreheet after that missed penalty against Spurs. He's had seven shots this season, surely a goal is on the horizon?
Sunderland have had to strengthen their squad due to so many extra games being scheduled for this season. They eventually got their hands on Malick Fofana from Lyon. Other notable additions to their squad have been Dayann Methalie from Toulouse (available here atter serving his suspension) and Jules Ahoka from Royal Antwerp, .
Kevin Danso was signed on loan from Tottenham and could make his debut in this match. Habib Diara was injured in the win over Fulham, but the hope is he will be able to play on Saturday. The transfer window saw the departure this wek of Simon Adringa.
