Brazil - France: Form Analysis
Brazil weren’t at their usual best in the CONMEBOL qualifiers and struggled in the qualification campaign. They finished fifth with 28 points (W8, D4, L6), and although only one point behind second-placed Ecuador, they were only above sixth on goal difference.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side did qualify with some time to spare but faces a lot of questions before the main tournament begins. They weren’t convincing in the four friendlies (W2, D1, L1) post the qualification campaign, so Brazil have a lot to improve on in this friendly and the next one against Croatia.
The last time these sides met was in a 2015 friendly.
So much has changed since then, and France asserted their dominance on the global stage by winning the 2018 World Cup and reaching the finals of the 2022 campaign. Even in this edition’s qualifiers, France finished top of their group, Group D, with an unbeaten record (W5, D1).
Unlike their South American counterparts, Les Bleus haven’t been part of any action since the qualification campaign ended last November. Didier Deschamps’ side won three of their last four matches on the road (D1), so there’s enough form on that front as well.

Ancelotti had a few injuries to contend with, including Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel, Alisson Becker, and Rodrygo. There was no place for Richarlison, while Neymar didn’t get the emotional call that a section of supporters were expecting.
The Selecao still have a strong roster with Joao Pedro likely to lead the line in their 4-2-3-1 formation with Matheus Cunha, Raphinha and the red-hot Vinicius Junior slotting in the attacking third. With Alisson out, it could be Ederson in the goal, but no one’s complaining!
