Real Betis have the chance to rise to joint fourth in the Spanish La Liga standings, but they will have to beat runaway league leaders Barcelona first. As Betis hosts this game, the two sides are 16 points apart; Barcelona on 47 points and sixth placed Betis on 31. It hasn’t been a great period for Betis, who are just coming from their first win in four matches. A late penalty goal from Borja Iglesias served them a 1-0 win over Getafe in their most recent game. Before that they had lost to Espanyol 1-0 in La Liga and suffered losses on post-match penalties against Osasuna and Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey and Super Cup respectively. Real Betis have managed just one clean sheet in their last five matches and this will not be a very welcome stat as they face the second-best attacking side in the league. They will however take pride in having only failed to score once in their last five matches.

Barcelona beat Betis on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Super Cup in January and they will hope to do a clean win when the two face off a little over three weeks later. Barcelona will be energized for this game as they welcome Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski back from suspensions. Barcelona haven't lost a game in 13 outings, across all competitions; their last defeat was at home to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. They have 11 wins since then. They come into this game straight from a 1-0 win over Girona in La Liga, which opened up a five-point gap for them after Real Madrid drew on the same weekend. That win also marked the fourth straight clean sheet for Barcelona. In La Liga action, they have three straight wins, all with clean sheets but after scoring just one goal. They’ve managed more than a goal in just one of their last four league games. This could change with Torres and Lewandowski returning.
