Barcelona have just La Liga to play for after their recent elimination from the Copa del Rey, and they will hope to extend their lead when hosting Girona.  They lead the table by 71 points and will look for three more points at home to 11th placed Girona. Barcelona are coming from a humiliating 4-0 loss to Real Madrid at home in the Copa Del Rey and will be keen to bounce back. From their remaining 11 matches, they need just 19 points to bag the title and this will be a good game to extend that push. In four straight league matches, Barcelona have registered wins, the most recent of which was the 4-0 victory away to Elche. That was also their third clean sheet in those four matches, and an extension of their fine defensive run. Barcelona have conceded just nine goals in their 27 matches, making them the best defensive side in the league. They’ve won 10 of 13 home matches in La Liga without conceding.

Girona ended their run of three matches without a win in their last game as they beat Espanyol 2-1. Club legend Cristian Stuani got the decisive goal in that win but they had to finish with a man down after Jesus Rainier's sending off. This was the fourth time in five matches that they scored more than a goal, with all four ending with over 2.5 goals. Girona have failed to score in just one of their last five matches and with this form, they will feel capable of troubling the league’s best defensive side. The fact that they don’t have a clean sheet in the last five matches will not paint a very good picture of their ability though.
