Denmark attempt to reach the last eight of the Women's World Cup for the first time this century. To do so, they have to end the hopes of co-hosts Australia in this match being played on Monday August 7th. The winners of this match will face either France or Morocco in the quarter finals. Australia will have Sam Kerr in their team and will hope that might just be the factor that gives them a win in this match.

Australia W - Denmark W: Form Analysis

Australia finished top of Group D despite losing a match. They began these finals with a 1-0 win over Ireland, though it took a 52nd minute penalty to get the three points. Australia led 1-0 in their second match against Nigeria but ended up losing the game 3-2. Sam Kerr missed both those games but returned as a sub for the final group fixture against Canada and had a comfortable 4-0 win with Hayley Raso scoring twice. The Matildas have only lost two of their last 13 matches and Kerr didn't play in either of those defeats.

Denmark are ranked 13th in the world, three places below their opponents. They finished second in Group D to qualify for the knockout stages. Their campaign began with a 1-0 win over China scoring the winner in the 90th minute. They then lost 1-0 to England but ensured qualification with a 2-0 win over Haiti. The 2-0 win wasn't as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. The first goal was from the penalty spot and the second came in the 100th minute. Their last eight internationals have seen them only lose twice, the other loss being to Spain in early July. Nine of their last ten games have seen under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Australia W & Denmark W Squad Analysis

The big question is whether star striker Sam Kerr will start the match. After missing the first two games due to a calf injury, Kerr came on as a sub during the win over Canada. At the back, Aivi Luik has made a recovery from the concussion she sustained and is another possibility for the starting line-up. The same applies to Charlotte Grant who also got concussed in the last match. Kyah Simon is yet to play in this competition and would at best be a substitute on Monday. Denmark have no new injury concerns so may field an unchanged starting eleven.

Our Australia W vs Denmark W Prediction

Australia take on Denmark in what looks like being a closely contested affair. The co-hosts had a mixed group with a good win over Canada but they struggled to beat Ireland and lost to Nigeria. The problems with the fitness of Sam Kerr haven't helped them and she's yet to start a match. Denmark also had to work hard to make the last 16 and all three games played had under 2.5 goals scored in them. Our  Australia women v Denmark women  prediction is for under 2.5 goals to be scored.

Australia to win in 90 minutes

Odds 1.94
Australia have shown good form this year and that includes beating England. They will hope that Sam Kerr can play a larger part in this game than in the group stages. Denmark wont be easy to beat but haven't been playing too well so far.
Welcome offer

Steph Catley to score in the match

Odds 6.4
Steph Catley has already scored twice in this tournament. Catley is the penalty taker for Australia so a small wager on her scoring looks worth making.
