Aryna Sabalenka attempts to win a third Madrid Open. The top seed faces the fourth-seeded Coco Gauff in the final of this outdoor clay court tournament. Can Gauff cause an upset? Read our match prediction.

The only clay tournament titles Sabalenka has ever won have been in Madrid. Her two wins came in 2021 and 2023 and this is her third successive final in this WTA 1000 tournament. The top seed has only dropped one set on her way to this final.

In the last four, Sabalenka defeated 17th-seeded Elina Svitolina in straight sets. This is the tenth match between these two players and Gauff leads 5-4.  The American also won their only match played on clay in Rome four years ago.

Cori Gauff is playing only her third clay court final. Only one was won and both finals (the other was at Roland Garros) were played four years ago.

 Gauff made a terrible start to this WTA 1000 tournament with the first set of her opening match against Dayana Yastremska being lost 6-0. That’s the only set the American has dropped in this tournament.

The semi-final saw her in excellent form as the 21-year-old beat the defending champion Iga Swiatek 6-1 6-1..
