Premier League champions Arsenal are set to host Italian side Como in a Wednesday friendly. The Gunners look to finish the preseason on a high after losing their last two buildup matches. Unique to both sides, though, is the fact that these teams haven’t kept a clean sheet lately, and our prediction will be in the goals market.
Arsenal are coming off a 3-2 loss in their last friendly outing as they found Borussia Dortmund too good for their largely second-string side. That loss came right after another defeat where they conceded three goals, against Real Betis.
On a more positive angle, in these games, Arsenal unleashed a star in Christos Tzolis. Their new winger has had a goal or assist in each of their preseason encounters.
Como will be playing in the Champions League for the first time this coming season, and they need top opposition to test themselves. Cesc Fabregas has transformed the side, and going into their third-last friendly match, the team only needs to work on the defence.
Twice in their last four matches, they’ve conceded two goals and are yet to record a clean sheet in preseason. This is quite a departure from their form in the competitive campaign in Serie A, where they were the best defensive team.
On a positive note, though, Como have scored more than a goal in three of their four friendly games.
