The decline at Marseille in the past few months has them starting match week seven in Ligue 1 as a lower-table side. They will be traveling to a fellow struggler, Angers, who sit just one point and place above them, at 13th. With both sides doing poorly in the season so far, our prediction is for under 2.5 goals.

All the baby steps Angers were making towards stabilizing in the season were wiped away last time out as they lost 5-1 to Brest. There won’t be time to stay down; Angers must wipe themselves and trudge on.

Here they face another tough task, having only won once in the last 19 meetings with Marseille. In the corresponding fixture last season they lost 5-2.

Marseille’s last outing in the league produced their second win of the season after beating Troyes 2-0, and they may be in line for another rise here. Les Phoceens, however, didn’t have much luck in their Europa League engagements in midweek.

They are coming from a 1-0 defeat against Olympiakos. That defeat left them on six losses in their last seven matches, and the decline at the team should be a concern.

Though they managed to get into Europe, Marseille finished outside the top four last season, having finished second earlier. Marseille have dominated this fixture and will be hoping for some reprieve.
