Manchester City ‘Considering’ Further Midfield Reinforcements
Premier League giants Manchester City are reportedly considering adding further reinforcements to their midfield before the summer transfer window closes, with Enzo Fernandez believed to be among their top targets.
While Chelsea have already splashed out a British record £117m on Morgan Rogers this summer, City may have to go even higher to secure the services of Fernandez, who the Blues have valued in the region of a staggering £120m.
Following the departure of Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, and Bernardo Silva, the Citizens are now undergoing a major midfield rebuild, bringing in Elliot Anderson for £116m and Ayyoub Bouaddi for £86m from Lille, with Fernandez now understood to be the next piece of the puzzle.
Nico Gonzalez has also been linked with a move away from the Etihad to join Newcastle!
Fernandez was suspended by the Blues for two matches toward the end of last season after casting doubt over his future while on international duty, amid reports of interest from Real Madrid, who ultimately ruled out a move for the Argentine in early July.
Aside from Fernandez, it is understood that Enzo Maresca’s side are also keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Roma’s Manu Kone as alternatives should a deal for the Chelsea man fail to materialise by the transfer deadline.
Crystal Palace Hold Firm on Ismaila Sarr Stance Amid Liverpool Interest
Liverpool have seen their initial approach for Ismaila Sarr rejected by Palace as they continue their search for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah on their right wing.
The Reds’ interest in Sarr emerged after they were forced to abandon their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh. However, according to reports, Palace are determined to keep hold of their Player of the Season despite Liverpool’s opening offer of £50m.
Sarr is believed to be open to the possibility of moving to Anfield this summer!
The Eagles’ stance on the Senegalese international is understandable given the growing number of key players attracting interest this summer, with Jean-Philippe Mateta looking likely to move to Villa Park, while Daniel Munoz has been linked to Everton.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are still in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Bradley Barcola. Talks between the clubs are believed to have advanced over the past week, but another wide attacker remains a priority for new boss Andoni Iraola.
Sarr was not involved in Palace’s defeat against Everton on the opening weekend of the season. There have been mixed reports surrounding his absence, with some indicating that the 28-year-old winger refused to train, while others suggested that he was dealing with an injury.
