Arsenal ‘Close’ To Securing Deal For Newcastle Captain

After ending their 22-year wait to win a Premier League title last term, Arsenal have been busy in the past week, looking to bolster their ranks ahead of their title defence.

The Gunners have already completed three deals this summer. They have made Piero Hincapie’s deal permanent (£34.5m), as well as acquired the services of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34m, and signed Illan Meslier from Leeds on a free transfer.

According to reports, Mikel Arteta’s side are now closing in on their next signing, with Bruno Guimaraes believed to be on the verge of leaving Newcastle United to join the Premier League champions!

The Brazilian midfielder has made his desire to move to the Emirates clear in recent days. The Gunners tabled an offer of around £70m which the Magpies rejected, and it is understood that the reigning English champions are now working on an improved bid that could reach £80m.

Newcastle have revealed that no formal talks have been held between the player and club regarding the potential deal. Guimaraes has scored 31 goals in 195 appearances for the Magpies since joining them from Lyon in 2022.

PSG Price Tag for Barcola Proving Stumbling Block for Liverpool

New Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola spoke out about the need for new signings this summer after a poor 2025-26 season, which saw Arne Slot and Mohamed Salah depart Anfield at the end of the campaign.

The Merseysiders have reportedly opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing of Bradley Barcola!

However, getting a deal done for the France international is proving far from straightforward, with the reigning European champions believed to be demanding a staggering £145m to allow the 23-year-old attacker to depart Parc des Princes this summer.

While the eye-watering amount may prove to be a stumbling block, there is still belief that a deal could materialise. PSG are under no immediate pressure to sell Barcola, but rumours suggest that their valuation of the Frenchman is more of an opening negotiating position than a firm expectation.

Additionally, if Barcola insists on a move to Anfield, the balance of power could begin to shift. PSG may be in a strong contractual position, given the player still has two years remaining on his contract, but convincing an unsettled player to stay put is rarely an ideal scenario.
