Monaco knew they will need to overdo a big team if they have any hope in reaching the groups stages of the Champions League. And the verdict is in: They will face Spain’s FC Valencia. The Spanish side ended on a solid fourth place in La Liga last season (only 1 point to Atletico Madrid), the Valencians will not let this chance slip. Having signed international striker Rodrigo, along with Midfielder André Gomes and forward Alvaro Negredo, Valencia has a significant striking force and with Paco Alcacer who has not moved and that Santi Mina arrived from Celta Vigo. Monaco will be challenged, but we saw last season, Monaco wait for their chance and can bring the situation back in their favour. After knocking out Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit and Benfica, it took the Juventus side to kick Monaco out of the competition.
