Two unseeded players face each other in round three of the Shanghai Masters. Both Jakub Mensik and Alexander Shevchenko beat seeds in the last round. Who'll reach the fourth round? Here's our match prediction.
Jakub Mensik was at 65th in the latest rankings but he's 59th in the live list and that's a new career-high. The Czech has had to work hard to make it into the last 32 of this Masters event. Both of his matches this week have gone to a final set.
Round one saw him defeat Pedro Martinez, losing the middle set after taking the opener 6-1. That took him into a match against sixth seed Andrey Rublev and he lost the first set of that match on a tie-break but fought back well to win the next two sets.
The 19-year-old reached the third round of the US Open this year and he played five tie-breaks in his three matches in that tournament. A bet on one in this match may well prove a profitable one to place. He's won both of his previous matches against Shevchenko, both on clay.
Alexander Shevchenko is the world number 58 and that's 13 places below the career-high he achieved in February of this year. The 23-year-old from Kazakhstan had lost four of his last five matches before this tournament began.
He has shown better form in Shanghai with wins over qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan and then the 27th seed Francisco Cerundolo. Both matches have been won in straight sets but 25 games were needed in his last match. Both his matches have had tie-breaks.
Our tip here is to go for over 21.5 games to be played.
