Chelsea are 16th in the table and only a point above the relegation zone, they take on a Sunderland side who are one from bottom in the table but will draw level on points with Chelsea if they can beat them. Somehow Jose Mourinho has to turn his team around. There have been a few signs of that happening in recent weeks with improved form in the Champions League. Back in the Premier League though they have lost their last two games against Bournemouth and Leicester. Home form has been difficult for Chelsea too this season but a home match against fellow strugglers Sunderland could be an ideal chance to get some points on the table. Sam Allardyce's side have also lost their last two league games and aren't the best travelers in the division by a long chalk. They have lost five of their last six away league games but did win at Crystal Palace recently. That game against Palace was also the only away game this season in which they have managed to keep a clean sheet. It's hard to trust Chelsea at present but they should be able to get a welcome three points from this game and build a bit of a bridge between them and the relegation zone, and I didn't anticipate having to write that in August!
