Most of the attention in the past week or so has been on the failure of Arsene Wenger to sign an outfield player during the transfer window. The cry for action intensified when it was revealed striker Danny Welbeck will be out of action until Christmas. Now it's time for Wenger to prove himself right and see his side embark on a winning run in the Premier League. Their season may have started in disappointing fashion when they lost 2-0 at home to West Ham but since then they have won two and draw one, moving them up to sixth in the table. A win against Stoke will keep the momentum going before they travel to Chelsea on the 19th.At present own goals are their top goalscorer with two and Arsenal simply aren't seeing goals flow as they have in the past. It's not a sudden occurrence either, Arsenal have failed to score at home this season and that's five blanks in their last six home Premier League games. Those certainly aren't figures that will appease the fans who have been crying out for the arrival of a new striker. Arsenal do look like one of those sides who will improve as the season progresses and can beat Stoke at home, but don't expect too many goals.While Arsenal weren't at all busy during the transfer window, Mark Hughes most certainly was with a whole host of signings during the summer. His side finished ninth in the Premier League last season, just six points off a Europa League place. With so many new signings and several, including Xherdan Shaqiri new to the Premier League, it's perhaps not surprising they've made a slow start to the season. They've lost both their home games and drawn their two away matches including coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Spurs. Goalkeeper Jack Butland has been in great form this season and another good display at the Emirates on Saturday may well be needed.
