Zadok Yohanna attracting interest from European powerhouses
With most of the top leagues around Europe now into the final stages of the season, the rumour mill is starting to heat up as sides start to look to the offseason and bolstering their ranks for the 2026-27 campaign.
One of the reports that has been making headlines in recent days centres around Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna of Swedish club AIK, who has been linked with several clubs across Europe, including Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
The 18-year-old moved to the Allsvenskan from Kaduna-based Ikon Allah FC last summer and has quickly emerged as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects, thanks to his impressive start to life in the Swedish top flight, recording eight goal involvements (5 goals, 3 assists) in 17 appearances across all competitions.
It is understood that Spurs, who are in the heat of the relegation battle in the Premier League and are likely to undergo a major overhaul in the summer after another dismal campaign, sent club scouts to Sweden to watch the teenager in action during AIK’s match against Degerfors last Thursday.
However, the Lilywhites are likely to face stern competition in securing the services of the Nigerian wonderkid, with the likes of Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax and Club Brugge all believed to be tracking the rising star’s development.
Having only acquired Yohanna last year, AIK are under no pressure to sell the 18-year-old this summer, but reports suggest that a formal offer in the region of €20m to €25m could persuade the Swedish side to allow the teenager to leave in the upcoming transfer window.
Yohanna fully focused on AIK despite transfer interest
Despite his impressive form and growing reputation, which have linked him with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, Yohanna insisted he is not distracted by transfer talk. Asked about the recent transfer speculation and Spurs’ interest, Yohanna said:
“No, I don’t know. I didn’t know there were scouts here. I’m just focusing on my game. My focus is completely on AIK.”
Beyond club speculation, there have also been multiple reports in recent days suggesting that Yohanna has been included in Eric Chelle’s Nigerian squad for the 2026 Unity Cup, which kicks off on May 26, with the Super Eagles taking on Zimbabwe at The Valley in London.
While Yohanna admitted that he hopes that he will be called up for his maiden national cap later this month, he also clarified that it will be up to AIK to give him the all-clear. The Unity Cup is not a part of the FIFA International calendar and will force him to miss key league games against Hammarby and Sirius.
