Super Eagles’ stars on fire for clubs following 2025 AFCON campaign
Chukwueze, Osimhen return to league action in style
With the Africa Cup of Nations now over, Nigeria’s star-studded squad have returned to club duty, and a few carried their form from Morocco to their respective leagues last weekend, producing impressive performances.
Samuel Chukwueze put his semi-final penalty miss behind him upon returning to the English capital, and delivered an excellent cameo off the bench for Fulham on Matchday 23, leading the Cottagers to a 2-1 comeback victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Alex Iwobi was thrust straight back into Fulham’s starting 11 for that match, while Calvin Bassey was an unused substitute. Marco Silva’s side face a tough assignment this weekend when they travel to Old Trafford, and you can find all the key insights for that clash in our Premier League predictions.
Over in Turkey, Victor Osimhen, who made the Team of the Tournament for the AFCON, wasted no time getting straight back to business and scored Cimbom’s third goal in their 3-1 victory over Fatih Karagumruk, which took them three points clear at the top of the Super Lig standings.
Osimhen was unable to make much of an impact against Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek, but he has been key to helping the team reach the Knockout Playoffs, having scored six goals in as many UCL appearances this season.
Paul Onuachu was another who impressed in the Super Lig, as he came off the bench and netted the winner for Trabzonspor against Kasimpasa last Friday. Onuachu now has 12 goals in 16 league games and has been key to keeping the Black Sea Storm on the shoulders of the league leaders.
Nigeria’s Terem Moffi set to join Porto from OGC Nice

On the transfer front, Nigerian attacker Terem Moffi is reportedly set to join Porto in the coming days. It is understood that he will remain with Os Dragoes on loan until the end of the season, while the deal also includes an option to buy clause in the region of €8m.
Moffi has not featured for Les Aiglons since a fan attack on the team’s bus back in November. He was placed on sick leave following the incident and is believed to have made the club aware that he wanted to leave in the winter transfer window.
Besiktas and Celtic were also rumoured to have made contact with Nice about the 26-year-old’s availability. Moffi was bought for a fee of around €20m from FC Lorient at the start of the 2023-24 season and has scored 24 goals while providing five assists in 72 appearances for Claude Puel’s side.
