The commencement of the 2025 Prime Volleyball League has now been confirmed for October 2, with the competition scheduled to run until October 26. Season 4 of the tournament will feature 10 teams and will kick off with the Hyderabad Black Hawks playing host to the defending champions, Calicut Heroes.

Goa Guardians aim to impress on PVL debut

While most volleyball fans are locked in on the action over in the Philippines, where the 2025 FIVB World Championships are heading into the business end of the competition, Indian clubs and players are busy preparing for Season 4 of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL).

The 2025 PVL season will run from October 2 - 26 and will feature 10 clubs from across the nation, up one from the nine that contested last season, with the Goa Guaradians set to make their debut in the competition this year.

Over the three weeks, a total of 38 high-intensity matches will be played, including 35 in the group stage, where each team will face all four teams from their own pool, as well as three from the other group.

At the end of the group stage, the top two teams from each pool will progress to the semi-finals, which will be a straight elimination shootout held on October 24, before the winners move on to the grand final two days later.

Notably, one of the biggest stories in the lead-up to PVL 2025 was the announcement that the tournament had secured a new sponsor in RR Kabel, one of India’s largest wire and cable manufacturers, who are aiming to make this season the best one yet.
