Osimhen Makes Stunning Start to 2026-27 Super Lig Season

Galatasaray have made a mixed start to the 2026-27 Turkish Super Lig season (W1 D1), but the biggest positive after their first two games of the new campaign is the form of Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international has stormed out the blocks this term, scoring twice to help his side salvage a point from their opening fixture against Corum before bagging a second brace in succession to lead Cimbom to a 4-0 victory over Erzurumspor last weekend.

Osimhen has now scored 62 goals in 76 appearances for Galatasaray!

The 27-year-old’s double against Erzurumspor marked a significant milestone in his career with the Turkish giants, as it took him past former Czech Republic international Milan Baroš, who netted 61 goals during his tenure at Rams Park.

Additionally, Osimhen’s brace in the last match, which also confirmed our football predictions, saw him become the first player since Brazilian forward Mario Jardel back in 2000-01 to find the back of the net four times in the club’s first two games of the domestic league season.

On top of the 62 goals that Osimhen has scored for the Lions, he has also contributed 16 assists since joining the club. Only Argentine attacker Mauro Icardi (77 goals) and Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi (72 goals) have scored more than the Nigerian for Galatasaray (as foreign players).

Gunners ‘Keeping Tabs’ on Osimhen as Alvarez Alternative

While Osimhen looks to be well on his way to becoming the top-scoring foreign player for Galatasaray, there is a possibility that he will not reach that milestone, with reports suggesting that Arsenal have made enquiries about his availability with the transfer deadline approaching.

The Gunners are believed to have made Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez their top target, but the Argentine’s desire to join Barcelona is proving to be a major hurdle, which has reportedly led the reigning Premier League champions to explore other options.

Further reports from media houses in Spain have revealed that Barcelona have been linked with a possible move for Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede was an unused substitute in the Gunners' opening match of the Premier League season against Coventry City last weekend.
