We are set to enter the final weekend in the group stage of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, and the race for qualification to the knockout round is red-hot. England is the only team to have booked their spot in the semi-final, and here we take a look at the teams that can still join them.

Group A: Australia vs India Blockbuster to Decide Qualifiers

Ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, Group A was widely considered the group of death, and that is exactly how it has panned out, with four teams still in the running to secure a spot in the semi-finals of this year’s global competition.

At the top of the standings are Australia, who are the only team still holding a perfect record of four wins from four, as well as a very healthy net run rate of 4.724, which sees them firmly installed as the favourites to progress from this section.

Meanwhile, behind the record-holding T20 champions, the race is wide open. India currently sit second with three wins from four matches, with their solitary defeat coming against South Africa, who currently hold third place with an identical record but an inferior net run rate.

However, while the Women in Blue currently have a better net run rate than the Proteas, the major issue for them is that their final match of the group stage is against the Aussies, while South Africa will take on Bangladesh. Check out our Australia vs India prediction

Bangladesh have the worst net run rate of all four teams that are still in contention. But if they beat South Africa on Sunday and India lose their final match of the group, the second qualifier spot will come down to net rate, as all three teams (except Australia) will be on six points apiece.

Group B: West Indies Favourites to Join England in Knockouts

Group B at the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup brings us the only team to have already secured their spot in the knockouts. England have won all four of their matches in the competition, and with four points separating them from third-placed New Zealand, they cannot drop out of the top two.

Adding to the task at hand for New Zealand is that they are set to face England in their final group-stage match. The Kiwis trail second-placed West Indies by two points ahead of the group finale, but the one major positive is that they have a better net run rate than the women from the Caribbean.

Still, the West Indies are heavily favoured to join England in the semi-finals due to their final fixture. The Windies’ final match in Group B is against Ireland, who are already eliminated from the competition and have not won a single match to date.

Mathematically, Sri Lanka, who currently sit in fourth place, can still overtake the two sides directly above them. However, that will require them to win their final match against Scotland by a huge margin and hope that both the West Indies and New Zealand suffer heavy defeats in their fixtures.
