The fourth Test of IND vs ENG sees Team India fighting to level the series, with England currently leading 2-1. Heading into the game, all eyes will be on KL Rahul, as the batter needs a mere 11 runs to reach 1000 Test runs on English soil, joining legends like Tendulkar and more.

KL Rahul Set to Join Elite Trio of Indian Cricketers

Rahul has scored 989 runs in 12 Tests and 24 innings in England, at an average of 41.20.

When India takes to the field for the fourth Test in Manchester, the opening batter needs just 11 runs to join an elite list of Indian cricketers to have scored 1000 or more Test runs in England.

Leading the group is Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 1575 runs in 17 Tests at an average of 54.31. Rahul David follows next, with 1376 runs in 13 Tests and 68.80. Lastly, Sunil Gavaskar scored 1152 runs in 16 Tests on English soil at an average of 41.14.

It is worth mentioning that the ongoing series is only Rahul’s third series in England. During the 2018 tour of England, he scored 299 runs in 5 matches. Then in 2021, he scored 315 in 4 matches.

Despite going down 2-1 in the series, India are still expected to come out on top according to the latest betting odds.

Rahul’s Performance in The Series So Far

KL Rahul playing cricket

With 2 matches left, Rahul can make this Test his best stat-wise. His most productive Test was IND-AUS 2016/17, where he scored 393 runs in four matches and seven innings. Rahul also had a batting average of 65.5% while scoring 6 fifties.

In contrast, during this Series, Rahul has scored 375 runs in three matches and six innings, with a batting average of 62.50. The batsman also hit two hundreds and one fifty, with a top score of 137, becoming the fourth-highest run getter in the series. If Rahul can keep up the scoring pace, he might break his record by the end of the Test.

Team India is Searching For a Miracle in Manchester

Despite KL Rahul’s incredible form, India is down 2-1 in the ongoing series, meaning a loss at Old Trafford would seal the series in England’s favour.
