Asia Cup 2025: Will India vs Pakistan be called off? Tournament officials provide an update

Higher hopes for India vs Pakistan Asia Cup showdown
Following the Indian cricket team’s return from their five-match Test series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India provided a significant update around the team’s next assignment - the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup - for which they are the favourites according to the best online betting sites.
While the high-profile clash between India and Pakistan at the tournament will realistically remain under threat until both teams actually take the field, the BCCI brought an end to immediate speculation, confirming that the Men in Blue are expected to feature in the competition and defend their title.
Tensions between the nations resulted in the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League being affected, and since then, there has been plenty who have had their say on the matter. From a neutral perspective, though, this simply makes the rivalry and matches between them an absolute spectacle.
Thankfully then, there is now hope that these proud cricketing giants will meet again, with the COO of The Emirates Cricket Board, Mr Subhan Ahmed, revealing to reporters:
“While I cannot give a formal guarantee, there is no risk of Pakistan and India not playing. The Asia Cup cannot be compared to private tournaments like the World Championship of Legends, where India refused to play against Pakistan in both the league stage and the semi-final.”
While this is great news, it also necessitates that the 2025 Asia Cup can no longer be held in India and has been shifted to a neutral venue in the United Arab Emirates. The 2025 Asia Cup fixtures will alternate between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and will run from September 9 to September 28.
Until further updates, this fixture between India vs Pakistan remains on the table, and they have been scheduled for a face-off on September 14. Depending on how the group stage pans out, they could meet on three occasions during this competition, including the final.
Asia Cup 2025 revised match schedule:

While all eyes will be on the India vs Pakistan clash scheduled for September 14, there are plenty of thrilling clashes scattered throughout the competition. Afghanistan have already announced their preliminary squad while the Blue and Green Shirts are expected to do so in the next week.
