The Badminton Asia Team Championships will be played in Qingdao, China, between February 3 - 8 next year, and India has become the latest nation to confirm their squad for the tournament. Team India are set to send a formidable team to the championships led by stars Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu.

India confirm 20-player team for Asia Team Championships

Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu will lead India’s men’s and women’s squads, respectively, to the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships, which will be held in Qingdao, China, between February 3 and 8 next year. 

The Indian women’s team won gold in Malaysia in 2024 - their first ever medal in the competition - and they will arrive at the competition as one of the favourites according to the best online betting sites in India. The men’s team left the 2024 edition empty-handed but did win bronze in 2016 nd 2020. 

Both teams for the upcoming tournament were selected based on ranking, experience and performance, with the women’s team headlined by two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who was instrumental to their title charge in Malaysia. 

Joining Sindhu in India’s title defence are Unnati Hooda, Malvika Bansod and junior championships runner-up Tanvi Sharma, while Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will carry the nation’s hopes in the doubles category. 

Paris 2024 semi-finalist Lakshya Sen, along with India’s star doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chriag Shetty, have been included in the men’s squad, along with veteran HS Prannoy and former world number one Kidambi Srikanth.
