Bumper-to-bumper home season incoming for India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has just announced the Indian national cricket team’s home fixtures for the remainder of the 2026-27 season, and we will be covering every match through the period in our cricket predictions

Following the 2026 Indian Premier League, which is now into its second week, Indian cricket fans can look forward to a jam-packed schedule, featuring four touring teams and multiple format series. In total, the season will comprise 22 international matches spanning 17 cities.

Kicking off India’s home schedule will be a three-match ODI series against the West Indies in September, hosted in Trivandrum, Guwahati and New Chandigarh, followed by a five-match T20I series across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Sri Lanka are set to arrive in December 2026 for three ODIs and three T20Is, while the New Year will get underway with a three-match ODI series against the T20 World Cup surprise package, Zimbabwe, in Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

The climax and undisputed highlight of the 2026 home season for the Men in Blue is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which gets going on January 21. Five Test matches are on the schedule, spanning Nagpur, Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi and Ahmedabad.

Strategic preparation for 2027 ICC World Cup

Following their triumph at the 2026 T20 World Cup, the Indian men’s cricket team are looking to follow up by winning the 2027 ODI World Cup, following in the footsteps of the Women in Blue, who lifted the most coveted trophy by beating South Africa last year.

The BCCI have ensured that India will have sufficient time and opportunity to prepare themselves for the global tournament, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, by including a strong presence of 50-over cricket across the next year.

This includes the series against the Windies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Notably, these are teams from three separate continents, meaning the Men in Blue will be able to gain valuable information, while also providing the likes of their veterans, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, chances to sharpen their skills ahead of the tournament.
