The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that the Indian women’s cricket team will receive a staggering ₹51 crore reward for winning the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. The Women in Blue defeated South Africa in the final on Sunday to earn their first-ever ODI World Cup title.

India women rake in rewards for winning 2025 World Cup

History was made at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, when India defeated South Africa in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup final by 52 runs to clinch the global title.

The Women in Blue surged to the title after an underwhelming group stage, in which they lost three of their seven matches and only just crept into the knockout round in fourth place with seven points.

However, it was in the knockouts that the team really hit their stride, ousting the formidable Australians in the semi-final before holding their nerve against the Proteas in the final, while also confirming our cricket predictions for the match.

It was a momentous occasion for the Indian team, as the victory marked their first ODI World Cup triumph after losing in the final of the competition twice in the past. To honour their success, the BCCI announced a cash reward of ₹51 crore for the players, support staff and selection committee. The announcement read:

“As a token of appreciation, the BCCI will reward the Indian women's cricket team with a cash award of Rs 51 crore for winning the World Cup. It includes all the players, support staff and the national selection committee.”

The chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, announced a reward of ₹1 crore for Renuka Singh Thakur, while the Madhya Pradesh government awarded the same amount to Kranti Goud for her performances.

Additionally, the Punjab Cricket Association allocated ₹11 lakh each to Harmanpreet Kaur and Amanjot Kaur, while the team’s fielding coach, Munish Bali, was awarded ₹11 lakh for his contribution to the world champions’ success.

While India’s women’s team are now off enjoying their World Cup success, the men’s side are heading into a crucial clash against the Australians in the fourth of five T20Is at the Carrara Oval on the Gold Coast later today.

The series hangs in the balance at 1-1 after India managed to level the standings with a five-wicket victory at Ninja Stadium on Sunday, when Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh played key roles to keep the series alive.

India lost the three-match ODI series 1-1 last month and needs to follow up on their performance from last weekend to start building up momentum heading into their home series against South Africa between November 14 and December 19.
