With the 1st T20 International around the corner, Pakistan and the West Indies are set to compete against each other in a 3-match series. All eyes will be on the teenage sensation Mohammad Huraira and Amir Jangoo, two batters who have made a name for themselves in the cricketing world. In the article below, we take a look at their profiles and past achievements.

Brief Introduction: Who are these two emerging talents?

Pakistan and the West Indies were once powerhouses in the cricketing world. This was between the 1970s and the 1990s. How can we forget the likes of Malcolm Marshall, Viv Richards, Imran Khan, and Wasim Akram, who were all known icons during their time? Fast forward to the present, times have changed.

Two names have been circulating lately. Pakistani batter Mohammad Huraira and West Indies' Amir Jangoo. They have both emerged as rising talents. Can these two names define the Pakistan and West Indies rivalry?

Who is Mohammad Huraira?

Mohammad Huraira

Mohammad Huraira graced the cricket world with his presence five years ago. At just 18 years old, he made his debut for the Northern in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and his journey to greatness began from there. A year later, his name was all over the tabloids for his terrific performance against Balochistan in first-class cricket.

For a player his age, he scored a triple century, which essentially consists of 311 runs. Thanks to that achievement, he became the second young player to achieve such a feat, with Javed Miandad being the first in 1975 when he was just a young boy aged 17 years and 310 days.

The way he concluded the 2021–22 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was nothing short of impressive. He was the leading run-scorer thanks to his 986 runs in 11 innings. Don't forget the 3 centuries and 4 fifties he posted to add to his portfolio of achievements. This was enough to see him make the cut for the Test squad against Australia in January and to be included in the Pakistani A squad for their tour to Sri Lanka.

It would take all day if we were to get into every detail about his achievement, but these are some of the things the youngster has managed to achieve in just a short period.

The Windies have a secret weapon in Amir Jangoo

Amir Jangoo is ten years older than Mohammad Huraira. It is very much obvious that he has reached significant milestones in his playing career, especially at the international level. When you talk about graceful strokeplay and consistency, then you are referring to the 28-year-old Trinidadian. The left-handed top-order batter began his cricketing career with a List A debut for the Combined Campuses and Colleges cricket team in the Regional Super50 tournament at age 18. It has to be noted that this happened in 2016.

Check out more of Amir Jangoo's achievements in past years:

  • 2017: made his first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. This was in the Regional Four-Day Competition.
  • 2021-22: In the Super50 Cup, he was an important player and played key innings for his team, Trinidad and Tobago.
  • 2024: Made his ODI debut for the West Indies. He scored a century in his debut (104 off 83 balls) against Bangladesh and became the second player in the history books to achieve such a feat.
  • 2025: Made his first Test debut against Pakistan. He had 30 runs in total and 2 innings.
