TPL 2025: Gurgaon Grand Slammers joins Tennis Premier League with high-profile new brand ambassador

Grand Slammers to become ninth TPL franchise
In a notable addition to the Tennis Premier League (TPL), the 2025 season, which is also the seventh season of the competition, will see a new entrant in the competition in the Gurgaon Grand Slammers. Don’t forget, you can live every moment of tournaments from across the globe using our tennis livescore tool.
The Gurgaon Grand Slammers was recently purchased by Hygiia Ventures, which is a Canadian-backed company, and owner Guarav Agarwal has been extremely vocal about his support of the TPL, stemming from his son’s participation in the sport.
This year, TPL will break new ground by becoming the fourth Indian sports league to successfully reach its seventh season of existence, joining an elite group of competitions to do so, all of which follow the lead of the mega-money Indian Premier League (IPL).
Since the league’s first season, the competition was contested between eight teams - Bengal Wizards, Bengaluru SG Pipers, Chennai Smashers, Rajasthan Rangers, Gujarat Panthers, Hyderabad Strikers, Yash Mumbai Eagles and Punjab Patriots.
At the time of writing, league organisers have not revealed whether there are plans for further expansion to ensure an even number of teams, if the league will remain at nine franchises, or if the Grand Slammers are intended to replace one of the existing sides.
Sania Mirza joins Gurgaon as brand ambassador

In addition to the excitement that the new franchise is expecting to bring to the court, Indian tennis fans are also looking forward to seeing more of tennis legend Sania Mirza, who has joined the Gurgaon Grand Slammers as their brand ambassador.
Mirza, who won six Major doubles titles during her playing days, announced her retirement from the professional game in 2023 and has since been involved with opening and helping run new tennis academies in Dubai and Hyderabad. Speaking to the media about her new role, Mirza said:
“I’m thrilled to be associated with a team that values both talent and innovation. Gaurav’s vision aligns perfectly with what Indian tennis needs—structured, long-term investment. I’m looking forward to supporting the Gurgaon Grand Slammers this season.”
The addition of the Gurgaon Grand Slammers to the TPL for Season 7 is another massive step forward for tennis in India, as it shows how the sport is growing in both popularity and as an investment opportunity each year.
