Almost a week into the competition is when world-ranking number three France and 15th Senegal meet for their first group game. At available odds of +115, Both Teams to Score appeals. This bet could easily be shorter, so there’s some clear value up for grabs.
Two-time World Cup winners France are no strangers to playing on the main stage, and even to making it to the final rounds of the competition. In 2022, after a late hattrick from Mbappe, Les Bleus almost pinched their second championship title in a row. They just fell short on penalties against Argentina, and no doubt they’d be delighted to avenge this in North America.
This year will only be Senegal's fourth time participating in the World Cup, qualifying for three consecutive tournaments. In 2022, the Senegalese were eliminated in the knock-outs by England. Their best result in the biggest soccer competition came during their first appearance, reaching the quarter-finals in 2002.
With very recent experience in a big competition, Les Lions de la Teranga were ever so close to AFCON victory back in January. After drama late in the game, Senegal believed they’d won the trophy, only for officials to reverse the outcome and strip them of their title later down the line.

France - Senegal: Form Analysis
Both teams have had two warm-up games ahead of the big showdown, though both have played two extra friendlies since March. One preparation game was a surprising defeat for Didier Deschamps’ side, losing 1-2 to Ivory Coast on home soil, as well conceding last time out against Northern Ireland. We all know how much quality the French have up top, but this does often cause them to get hit on the break, going five games now without a clean sheet.

It’s likely that the second-best African team won’t be too delighted with their World Cup preparations, tying against Saudi Arabia in their last outing, and losing against one of the host nations, USA, though still finding the net twice and having a fair number of great chances on goal.

France & Senegal Squad Analysis
When it comes to French offensive players, there’s plenty in the talent pool. Deschamps has some tricky decisions to make, and we can see that he’s been exploring his options in their recent matches. A lovely hattrick by Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise last time out should solidify his worth in this strong France team, though there’s Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, Marcus Thuram and Desire Doue to select from, and it doesn’t end there.

Senegal’s starting lineup hasn’t switched up too much in their warm-up matches, so there shouldn’t be a massive change here. The experienced Sadio Mane, who grabbed himself a brace against USA in their penultimate match, should be Pape Thiaw’s number one choice on the left. Villarreal’s Pape Gueye really has impressed in recent games for his country, whilst youngster Habib Diarra is likely to make his first World Cup appearance.

Our France vs Senegal Prediction
Les Bleus have more than enough quality in the final third, there’s no denying that. As we regularly see, they’re going to press forward a lot in this game, so Senegal will be a threat on the counter attack.
France has been creating a habit of getting caught out on the break recently, and three of their last five haven’t faced teams as strong as this underestimated Senegal side. Ultimately, this game looks lke a better opportunity for both teams to score than the early odds suggest.
Our France vs Senegal Pick: Both Teams to Score.

France to Win
Simply put, France has too much offensive quality. When push comes to shove they should be able to out-score their opponents, who do not have the same offensive depth as Les Bleus. If you’re looking to get involved in a moneyline multiple, betting on France to win is hard to avoid.
