The third game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first one to take place away from Mexican soil. One of the other tournament hosts will get down to business for the first time on Friday afternoon, when the Canadians take on Bosnia & Herzegovina at BMO Field in Toronto.
Back in 2022, the Canucks showed flashes of brilliance at the World Cup in Qatar, and although they failed to make it out of the group, they played like a nation on the rise. Now is their chance to confirm this. The Bosnians haven’t exactly been on the up in recent years, but they’re back at the World Cup having missed out in both 2018 and 2022. Let’s see what they can do.
The early betting market ahead of this first game on Canadian soil tells us that the hosts are quite strong favorites, but the question is can they shoulder the pressure and get the job done? If it all clicks offensively, then the answer to that question is yes, but they’re up against a team that has carved out a fantastic habit for grabbing goals, even on the road, making ‘Both Teams to Score’ appeal at odds of +105.

Canada - Bosnia Herzegovina: Form Analysis
As one of the host nations, there was no need for the Canadians to qualify, which means that Jesse March’s men come into the tournament having played a lack of competitive soccer in recent times. Back in April, the Canucks showed their defensive solidity when tying 0-0 with Tunisia, while they were similarly sturdy in victory against Uzbekistan at the start of June. In their final warm-up game, though, they were a little tepid, tying 1-1 with an Irish side that failed to qualify for the World Cup.
Since then, Sergej Barbarez’s men have continued to be tough to beat, tying with both North Macedonia and Panama.
The Bosnians did endure what was a tough qualification campaign to earn their place at this World Cup, a campaign that culminated in a historic play-off against the Italians, which eventually went the way of the Balkan nation on penalties. Since then, Sergej Barbarez’s men have continued to be tough to beat, tying with both North Macedonia and Panama.

Canada & Bosnia Herzegovina Squad Analysis
For Canada’s two recent warm-up games, Jesse March was naturally in an experimental mood, and he now has some rather hefty personnel decisions to make. One of the biggest decisions will be who partners Jonathan David up top. The likeliest candidate is Cyle Larin. Tanitoluwa, who plays his club soccer for Villarreal in LaLiga, didn’t start last time out, but did provide two assists against Uzbekistan and could be recalled to the starting XI here. Jayden Nelson has also impressed in recent times, but can Marsch find a way to force the Austin man into the lineup?

For Sergej Barbarez, there are less selection headaches. The Bosnians have an experienced and reasonably settled starting XI, which will contain veteran Edin Dzeko, who was rested ahead of this game, but will now definitely start. Saed Kolisinac is another experienced part of the squad and he too will start this game.

Our Canada vs Bosnia Herzegovina Prediction
Looking at the early lines, 'Both Teams to Score' looks too leniently priced at odds of +105. The Canadians have several clean sheets on their recent record, but let's be honest, they've often played much lesser teams, so we shouldn't be too fooled by that. Last time out against the Irish, they showed that they can hurt teams, but they also showed defensive cracks.
What's more, the Bosnians have developed a clear-and-obvious habit of both scoring and conceding in games, even when they may not be expected to, and it doesn't look as if the early market is reflecting this fact accurately enough. In other words, 'Both Teams to Score' goes down as a value bet at odds of +105.
Our Canada vs Bosnia & Herzegovina Pick: Both Teams to Score.
