These are the two teams about which we have few doubts, given the sheer quality of their respective rosters. Paris could finally advance directly to the round of 16!
Next, we’re leaning toward four Premier League clubs qualifying directly: Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool. We also see Real Madrid and FC Barcelona advancing directly to the round of 16. Still, we’ll need to watch out for clubs like Napoli, Dortmund, Atlético, Inter, Juventus, and Atalanta…

Here’s a second exercise that’s even harder than the previous one...at least on paper! After selecting the 8 teams that we believe will finish in the top 8 and qualify directly for the round of 16, there are still 24 teams in contention for the play-ins (a sort of round of 32).
It is still hard to say for sure, but here’s the list of clubs we see making it to the play-offs in July 2026: Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa, AS Roma, Sporting, FC Porto, Napoli, Bruges, as well as Betis, Lille, Como, Leipzig, and Galatasaray. We’ll revise these picks once we know all the qualifier results.
UCL Top Scorer Picks
The Champions League top scorer is another popular future bet available at interesting odds. Here are a few factors to consider before placing your UCL top scorer bet:
Current form, goal scoring capacity, schedule, opponents, and the club’s ambitions. All of these can influence a player’s chances of finishing in the top spot.
That being said, we give an edge to Kylian Mbappé, who has been consistently finding the back of the net in recent years and finished last season in great form. The fact that he's playing at Real Madrid (a club that historically goes late into the tournament) only means more chances for him to add to his season tally.

Sports Betting Beginners: How does the new Champions League work (new format 2026-2027)?
The Champions League is the most prestigious of all European soccer leagues. Each season, the tournament sees the best teams in Europe go head-to-head, having earned their tickets thanks to their respective results on the domestic scene.
The new format means more spots up for grabs as UEFA has decided to grant an extra spot to the two leagues with the best overall records during the previous UCL season. This means the Premier League and LaLiga will both have 5 teams in the Champions League this year thanks to this change.
Since the old group stage format is out, the new 'single pool' format is simple: 36 teams; the top 8 qualify directly to the round of 16, 9th to 24th places go head-to-head in a two-legged play-off to fill the remaining 8 spots.
Eliminated Champions League teams no longer play in the Europa League, so the bottom 12 will have to wait until the following year before they can taste European soccer again. For those who qualify, the play-offs will determine the last 8 teams, followed by a knockout phase of home and away matches, with the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, culminating in the grand finale.
