The Carolina Panthers (1-2, 0-1 Home) will try to improve to .500 on Sunday Night Football when they host the Detroit Lions (2-1, 0-1 Away) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. EST with coverage provided by NBC/Peacock.
On paper, the Panthers have one of the NFL's better offenses so far this season. Their running game leaves something to be desired (97 yards per game), but the passing game is the best in the league (295.7 yards per game; No. 1). They are also averaging 29.7 points per game. However, it is hard to know what they have on defense. They gave up 59 points to the Bears in Week 1 (in a loss), then held the Falcons to 3 in Week 2 (won 34-3), and lost to the Browns in Week 3 (21-18).
So, Carolina has looked both good and bad on both sides of the ball through Week 3, making it hard to know what version of the team will show up.
As for the Lions, Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs are off to great starts. Goff is completing 70.6% of his passes and has eight touchdowns; Gibbs is averaging 100+ yards a game with four touchdowns. But the defense has struggled to slow teams down, giving up 24, 41, and 30 points.

I’d bet on Detroit to win, but I do not think that is the best bet for this game. Why not? Because Detroit can’t defend against the pass, and Carolina is averaging close to 300 yards a game through the air. If they do that, the Panthers have a good chance of winning. However, Jahmyr Gibbs should have a career day against the league's worst run defense and lead his team to a win. So, we have a game where both offenses should be able to exploit the other’s defense and score points, leading to a relatively high-scoring game.
