This feels so weird to say, but it’s true: the AFC North-leading Cleveland Browns will try to make it four in a row this week when they travel to New Jersey to take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The game is part of the early window (1 p.m. EST) and will be broadcast on CBS.
More of the same dysfunctional Browns fans have grown accustomed to was expected when Deshaun Watson was named QB1. Week 1 was a disaster, and the offense still isn't very productive, but Watson and the offense (with help from the defense, of course) have been making enough late-game plays to win. A win on Sunday will put them one away from matching last season’s win total (5).
As for the Jets, there have been signs of promise and potential, but they've been few and far between. With running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell out this week, Geno Smith will have even more trouble getting the struggling offense on track.
Yet, despite the injuries to key personnel and Cleveland’s 3-game winning streak, the Jets are actually the betting favorite (-2.5) for this game as I write this preview.

It baffles me that DraftKings has taken enough bets on the Jets to move the spread from where it opened (-1.5) to -2.5. Who on Earth is betting on a Jets team that can’t move the ball to win by a field goal? Okay, if we were getting the same old Browns—maybe. But these Browns, while still flawed, have been making plays late in games and winning. It hasn’t always been pretty, but ugly wins count the same as blowouts. With Hall and Mitchell out, it is not a matter of whether the Browns win, but by how much.
