Manchester United's victory, which included an epic Champions League comeback at Old Trafford against Roma, may well be a turning point; at least it gave that impression, and it certainly saved Michael Carrick's job. It's too early to say the Red Devils are back, but it's clear they need points against Aston Villa on Sunday to climb out of their precarious position in the Premier League table.
In the 17th minute, Manchester United were losing 0-2 against Roma, and the fans' discontent was palpable. Before that victory, United had gone nine games without a win despite taking all their chances. However, they improved as the game went on; Fernandes scored a penalty, and Cunha netted two spectacular goals. But this won't be enough to satisfy them completely; if they don't win on Sunday, they will equal their worst Premier League start since 1972.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, haven't lost in the Premier League since September 12th. Aston Villa are currently tenth, but they also came away disappointed from their midweek Champions League match, where Barcelona dominated them on the pitch. Emery will be managing his 200th Premier League game on Sunday.
