Estonia takes on Latvia on Friday, August 29, at the Arena Riga in Latvia.
It's bounce-back time for Latvia, who is coming off a disappointing 93-73 loss to Turkey last Wednesday. Rihards Lomazs topscored with 16 points on 6-9 shooting, while Arturs Zagars produced 11 markers. NBA veteran big man Kristaps Porzingis struggled in the loss, shooting 3-12 from the field and committing six turnovers.
Most importantly, Latvia's defense was nowhere to be found. They allowed Turkey to shoot 60% from the field, including 15-25 from the three-point line. It's just the first game, but Latvia has to regroup quickly, especially on the defensive end.
Meanwhile, Estonia also sustained a loss in their opening game. They were soundly defeated by the mighty Serbian team, 98-64. Henri Drell and Artur Konontsuk are the only Estonian players who scored in double digits.
Estonia's defense also struggled against Serbia, as they allowed their opponents to shoot 61.4%. Latvia has less offensive firepower when compared to Serbia, but Estonia's defense will be tested again.
