Poland has also emerged at the top of Group D, tied with France with an unblemished record through two games. They surprised many people when they defeated Luka Doncic and Slovenia by 10 points, then survived a third-quarter rally from Israel to win by two.
In the win against Israel, Jordan Loyd came through with a game-high 29 points built on a 5-8 clip from the three-point line. Mateusz Ponitka is the other double-digit scorer for Poland, as he hauled in a double-double performance of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Through two games, Loyd is now averaging 29.5 points, trailing Luka and Lauri Markkanen, and one spot ahead of Serbia's Nikola Jokic.
Meanwhile, Iceland has lost its first two games, including a most recent 71-64 loss to Belgium. They actually held the lead through three quarters, but lost steam in the end when the Belgians mounted their comeback.
Tryggvi Hlinason topscored for Iceland with 20 points, while Elvar Fridriksson and Martin Hermannsson contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.
