On Thursday, in the Italian capital, there'll be an Italian in action. That Italian is world number one Jannik Sinner, who somewhat strangely has never won this event before. He reached the final in 2025, before losing to Carlos Alcaraz. 2026 could be his year, and let's face it, he's so far played like the most likely winner of the tournament, securing three straight-set wins. 

Andrey Rublev is no poor player and he too has looked good in Rome, but does he have what it takes to really test Sinner? Doubtful. When the pair met on clay at the French Open last year, Sinner breezed past the Russian competitor, while the way in which he has recently stepped on the gas against each and every opponent that he's faced suggests that he's a little more likely to win this by a fairly wide margin than early odds of -167 would have us believe. This bet could easily be priced at -189.
