The Seattle Sounders have one last chance to save their season on Saturday, as they take on LAFC, knowing that only a victory is likely to be enough to secure a playoff place.
A few weeks ago, Seattle looked certain to make the postseason. However, a run of five games without a win has left them one point and one place outside of the qualification spots. Last weekend's 5-1 thrashing at Vancouver highlighted Seattle's current lack of confidence, and a dramatic upturn in performance is needed if they are to force their way into the Western Conference playoff places.
LA are already guaranteed a top seven finish and a place in the first round of the playoffs. That being said, their recent displays are doing little to suggest that they will make a deep postseason run. Monday's defeat at home to Minnesota means that interim head coach Xavi Tamarit has won just one of his five games in charge of LA.
