We're into the final round of MLS regular season fixtures as Austin FC take on Portland Timbers at the Q2 Stadium. While the home side have already been eliminated from Playoff contention, Timbers are still well in the running for a spot. A win for the Timbers could be enough for a Round One spot, depending on LA Galaxy's result. A draw could also be enough, with Portland currently having a superior goal difference to the Los Angeles side. A loss, though, could open up the door for Seattle Sounders, Real Salt Lake and Minnesota United to take Timbers' place in the Wild Card Round.
Portland head into this match in good form. Rose City are unbeaten in their last four, winning the last three and another victory here would rubber stamp a place in the Wild Card round at least. Austin are in much poorer form. They've lost five of their last six, including their last three on home turf.
For our prediction, we're looking at the away win. Portland Timbers know that a win would confirm a spot in the Wild Card Round and could be enough for a place in the Playoffs proper.
