With the end of the MLS regular season upon us, Minnesota United welcome San Jose Earthquakes to Allianz Field. While the Quakes have already booked their spot in the MLS Playoffs, Minnesota still have work to do if they're to take part in post-season. The Loons still have an outside chance of earning a place in the Wild Card Round, but would need to Portland Timbers, Colorado Rapids, Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake to all drop points. They could mathematically still make the Round One proper, but that will involve LA Galaxy losing their final game of the regular season. So, unlikely, but not impossible, and Minnesota will be looking to give themselves the best chance of qualifying by winning this one.
The Loons are in good form, too. They're unbeaten in six, winning their last two and three of their last four. The Quakes are in reasonable form, they've only lost one of their last six but four of those games have ended in draws.
Ooooh this is a toughie. Will the Quakes rest some of the better players so they're refreshed for the Playoffs or will they be looking to fight for a second-placed finish? With Minnesota needing the win to stand any chance of qualifying for the Playoffs, we're expecting a fantastic match at Allianz Field. They're favorites to win, too, and we're expecting a few goals in this one.
