Nashville SC vs. Inter Miami has become one of the biggest rivalries in modern MLS. In 2025, in the Round of 16 of the playoffs, Nashville defeated the Herons 2-1 at Geodis Park, but a magical night in Fort Lauderdale, which included two goals from Messi, saw the Florida team advance with a 4-0 victory and go on to become MLS champions. That was a heated series that saw eight yellow cards shown in the second leg. Now, Nashville and Inter Miami are expected to face off again at Chase Stadium in 2026 in the Concacaf Champions League after drawing 0-0 in the first leg.
Although the first leg ended goalless, it was highly entertaining, and both goalkeepers were the stars of the show with multiple saves. Dayne St. Clair, Miami's goalkeeper, contributed four saves, even stopping silly errors from his own defenders. But Brian Schwake, Nashville's goalkeeper, also managed to make a crucial save on a shot that was headed for goal from Messi.
